As part of our international guest expert retreat series, we welcome celebrity fitness trainer May Phua for a specially curated 4 day/ 3 nights fitness retreat targeting strength and mobility.
If your shoulders are rounded and back aches, it is most likely that you have anterior muscle dominance due to your lifestyle habits. With time this causes our core muscles to be inhibited and hip muscles isolated, leading to imbalanced muscles, bad posture, stress, and injury.
Join May for this fun and interactive retreat where she will bring you back to the basics of working out with conscious awareness to strengthen and engage your key muscles correctly and effectively. Through specially designed workshop sessions she will explore the fundamentals of mobility and breakdown simple natural movements in daily life such as hinges, squats and push & pull rotation , introducing exercises that will build a strong foundation and change the way you move. Catered to people of all fitness levels and physical capabilities you will develop the knowledge of the optimal use of muscles in your workout and as you go about your daily routine.
To provide for an all-inclusive experience we have complemented May’s workshops with the signature essences of Absolute Sanctuary. Look forward to wholesome superfood meals to fuel you, massages that will ease your tension spots, access to our group yoga classes , wellness facilities and a bespoke SUP yoga class to take in the sights and sounds of the islands around Koh Samui.

May Phua is a celebrity Trainer, ACE FITNESS certified physical trainer and certified senior fitness specialist from Singapore. A veteran actress, May has played a variety of roles throughout her showbiz career and won Singapore’s Best Supporting Actress Award in 2007. After suffering a slipped disc, May managed to rehabilitate herself, avoiding the need for invasive surgery through embarking on strength training. Her personal experience inspired her to study human anatomy and dive deeper in exploring how the correct application of exercise can help improve functionality and overall fitness.
May has been a role model in motivating people to keep fit and to stay in shape. With her experience and knowledge, she has helped many individuals regain their functional abilities and lead a healthy lifestyle through her innovative customized exercise plans. Besides conducting personal training, May also appears regularly on various health talk events/fairs/media programs as a Celebrity Speaker/trainer/Coach. May’s passion lies in helping people overcome their physical limitations and become a better version of themselves for long lasting health and vitality.
